T.I To Be Released From Prison Wednesday

 

T.I. is going to be a free man in just a couple of days. Sources have confirmed that the Atlanta rapper, currently serving an 11-month sentence in Forrest City Correctional Facility in Georgia for a parole violation after an L.A. drug arrest, will be released to a halfway house on August 31. Tip will be walking out of jail about a month early, with his original release date listed as September 29 in public records.

T.I.’s Smash company partner, producer La Mar “Mars” Edwards, is eager to reunite with Tip in the studio. “He let me know, ‘I got your back and stay close to me, you’re my brother,’ ” said Mars, who just produced Game’s The R.E.D. Album. “Ever since then, he’s really treated me like a little brother. He’ll call me to talk about life. It’s more to it than me being his production partner and having Smash Factory.”

T.I.’s friend DJ Drama also recently revealed that T.I. is working on a book. “8/31 — #kingback. @Tip,” Drama tweeted on Monday (August 29).

Beyonce & Jay-Z Expecting

Beyonce revealed that she and Jay-Z are expecting their first child together, upstaging pretty much everything else that happened at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. The singer showcased her baby bump while walking the black (not red) carpet before the show began and after performing "Love On Top," she unbuttoned her sparkly jacket and rubbed her belly with a grin. The camera then cut to Jay-Z and buddy Kanye West cheering enthusiastically.

"I'm free!" Beyonce reportedly said to well-wishers backstage. "We're all free!" There were numerous notables there to congratulate the happy couple. "That was an eventful night, to say the least," Jay-Z added.

It is unclear how long Beyonce and Jay have been expecting. The couple got married in 2008.

J.Cole Releases Tracklist to "Cole World: The Sideline Story"

In its second week on the charts, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne has become one of the few Hip Hop releases this year to achieve gold certification for moving more than 500,000 units.

The album, which holds at the top of the Billboard 200 for the second consecutive week, sold an additional 177,000 copies, upping its overall to 613,000 albums sold since its release. This also marks the first week that both digital and physical editions of the LP were available for the entirety of the sales period.

DMX Arrested...Again

MESA, Ariz. – The rapper known as DMX was arrested on Wednesday by Department of Public Safety officers on the U.S. 60 westbound at Power Road. The 40-year-old whose real name is Earl Simmons, was caught on radar at 102 miles per hour in a Chrysler 300. There was another vehicle following him and both were stopped.

A check showed Simmons’ license was revoked. He was cited for criminal speed, driving on a suspended and revoked license and reckless driving. Simmons’ passenger was the registered owner of the Chrysler.

Lil Wayne Gets Sued....AGAIN

 

Rapper Lil Wayne is once again at the center of a controversial lawsuit. Rapper Rich Rick claims that Wayne's hit "How to Love" was stolen. Rich Rick filed a lawsuit earlier this week in Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to TMZ.

Rick says that he purchased several master recordings between 2006 and 2008, including the beat to "How to Love," from producers Drummer Boyz.

Rick claims that Drummer Boyz pitched the same beat to Wayne in November 2010, which Wayne acquired in exchange for a 35% royalty agreement. Now Rick has filed suit against Drummer Boyz and Wayne for breach of contract and other charges.

Lil Wayne To Release Tha Carter IV Digitally

Lil Wayne is reportedly gearing up to digitally release his forthcoming album C4 at midnight on Sunday, August 28th following his performance at the MTV VMAs, with physical copies hitting stores that Monday.  It can be likened to what Jay-Z and Kanye West did with the Watch The Throne project or even, what Wayne himself did when he issued I Am Not a Human Being whilst behind bars. J. Cole - Cole World: The Sideline Story (Album Cover)

 

J. Cole prepares to take his shot with the cover of his Roc Nation debut Cole World: The Sideline Story, arriving in stores on September 27. The North Carolina MC sits pensively in the locker room awaiting his moment in the spotlight in the photo by Leann Mueller.

He told Rap-Up TV how he came up with the title. “I actually wanted to do Cole World for the second album title, but by the time people started suggesting it, it just kinda went all the way out the window,” he explained. “When I came up with an album title that I actually liked, it was The Sideline Story. But it felt incomplete. I felt like, ‘Oh man, let’s make it a series and make Cole World the Star Wars [with sub-titles].’ Cole World is something that my fans recognize and they love and I love it too.”

Lindsay Lohan Sues Pitbull Over "Give Me Everything" Lyrics

 

Lindsay Lohan has just sued rapper Pitbull for a line in his mega-hit, “Give Me Everything,” for a disparaging lyric about her.

The song is written by Ne-Yo and Afrojack, who are also defendants, has a line that goes like….

“Hustlers move aside, so I’m tiptoein’, to keep flowin’
I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.”

Lindsay is pissed, claiming in her lawsuit, “the lyrics, by virtue of its wide appeal, condemnation, excoriation, disparaging or defamatory statements by the defendants about the plaintiff are destined to do irreparable harm to the plaintiff.”

Lindsay claims in the lawsuit she is “a professional actor of good repute and standing in the Screen Actors Guild, is suing under the New York civil rights laws, which protects people from having their name exploited for commercial purposes. Lindsay alleges the appearance of her name in the song “causes [Lindsay] to be associated and identified in connection with defendants.”

The suit was filed by Stephanie Ovadia and seeks an injunction to stop all of the defendants from broadcasting the song. It also seeks unspecified damages

Eminem Named "King of Hip-Hop" By Rolling Stone

More than half of Eminem’s 7.5 million in sales were taken by Recovery. Now past four million copies in the U.S. alone, Recovery was the best-selling album, period, of 2010. One-fourth of those albums sold digitally, making it the first album in history to sell more than a million non-physical copies, a mark it crossed just last month. Despite losing the Album of the Year Grammy in an upset to Arcade Fire, Recovery still took home Best Rap Album, Eminem’s fifth win that category. It also doesn’t hurt to have a crossover hit song to fuel album sales, and Recovery had a monster: the Rihanna-supported ballad “Love the Way You Lie,” which topped the Hot 100 for two months last year and probably fueled more soccer-mom album purchases for Shady than at any time in his career.

Twista Announces New Album

 

Rapper Twista has announced that he's hard at work on his ninth solo album, tentatively titled The Dark Horse. The Chicago native released The Perfect Storm in 2010 and this marks his third album in three years.

Twista is reportedly in Los Angeles recording for the album with the Legendary Traxster. Twista has also hinted that he would like to work with legendary producer DJ Premier

No official release date for The Dark Horse has been announced.

Jay-Z Declares J.Coles Album "A classic"

Jay-Z has spoken. The hip-hop tycoon has given his stamp of approval to J. Cole’s debut album, calling it a “classic.”

Jay’s protégé had the daunting task of playing the album for his Roc Nation boss. “When I played him the album, I could gauge his response not on what he said, but what his vibe was,” Cole exclusively tells Rap-Up.com. “I linked up with [Roc Nation executive] Rich Kleiman and he said he was with Jay-Z later that night. Out of nowhere, Jay said, ‘So Cole got a classic. That motherfucker.’”

As of last Friday, the album was 99 percent done. “I still have to finish up interludes, tweaking mixes, and features that I’m trying to make happen.”

One of those potential features is his mentor, though Cole isn’t stressing if schedules don’t permit half of The Throne to be on the album. “We’ll see. It’s very possible that he might not be on it. I feel like it’s dope as hell though,” he shares.

“The whole world knows that J. Cole is waiting on a Jay-Z verse, but if it don’t happen, it don’t happen. But how ill is it that the album is called The Sideline Story, which is a metaphor for me trying to get off the bench, and I’m waiting for the nod from the coach?”

After hearing Watch the Throne, the North Carolina MC was initially concerned about his own material, but it only inspired him more. “When I first heard the album, I was like, ‘Damn, they really gonna put this out seven weeks before my album?’” says Cole, who singled out “New Day” and “Gotta Have It” as his two standout tracks off Throne. “I got a little nervous, but it’s also motivation and pushes me further.”

Lil Wayne Releases Tracklist to "Tha Carter IV"

 

In anticipation of its August 29 release, Lil Wayne has issued the track list for Tha Carter IV. Weezy's ninth studio effort comes in deluxe and standard editions: the former features three bonus tracks in addition to the standard's 15 album tracks.

The album is loaded with guest appearances including Cory Gunz, T-Pain, Tech N9ne, Rick Ross, John Legend, Drake, Jadakiss and Nas.

The long-awaited LP comes shortly after Weezy announced his imminent retirement from rap:

"I'm bowing out still on top, I'll make you all want me when I retire," he told XXL magazine in late June.

Dr. Dre’s Beats Electronics Partners with HTC in $300 Million Deal

 

Dr. Dre is coming for Jay-Z’s spot on Forbes’ Cash Kings list. In a newly announced deal, the hip-hop mogul has sold a majority stake in Beats Electronics to HTC for $309 million.

The Taiwan-based smartphone maker will acquire 51 percent of the company, which Dre co-founded with Interscope Geffen A&M Records CEO Jimmy Iovine in 2006. Beats, known for its popular Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, sells celebrity-endorsed lines by Lady Gaga, Diddy, and Justin Bieber.

“The HTC and Beats by Dr. Dre partnership is an opportunity for two world-class companies to redefine the smartphone industry and define the future,” stated Iovine. “For Beats by Dr. Dre, this represents a critical step in our continued mission to clean up the destruction of audio caused by the digital revolution and reengineer how sound is delivered, so the consumer feels the music the way that the artist intended.”

As part of the strategic partnership and investment, HTC plans to incorporate Beats technology into their phones by the end of the year. Dr. Dre and Iovine will continue to operate Beats autonomously.

Game Calls The Dr Dre To Fix 'R.E.D.' Album

West Coast rapper Game is giving fans a reason to wait for his upcoming R.E.D. Album by revealing iconic music producer Dr. Dre narrates the entire LP. Game said Dre's narration helps set a movie-like theme to his long-awaited fourth solo album.

"The album is real theatrical; it's a movie," Game said. "And it's narrated by Dr Dre - the entire album."

Dre, who originally signed Game to his Aftermath label and oversaw the rapper's debut, The Documentary, has played a limited role in the rapper's career since Game's fallout with 50 Cent, who is also signed to Dre's Aftermath. Since then, the West Coast production icon hasn't contributed beats or vocals to any of Game's subsequent albums. And though the two have since reconciled and have been spotted in the studio together, this will mark the first time that they've actually collaborated on album-worthy material. (RapFix)

Drake Drops New Single "Headlines"

Drake makes “Headlines” with the first single from his sophomore album Take Care, due October 24. The Young Money superstar, who had one of the biggest breakthroughs of 2010 with Thank Me Later, silences his critics on the bouncy Boi-1da and Noah “40” Shebib production.
“I had someone tell me I fell off, ooh I needed that/ And they want to see me pick back up, well where’d I leave it at?” raps Drizzy, who will headline the second annual OVO Fest in Toronto tomorrow.
“The whole process has been about slowing life down and really pinpointing emotions,” the Canadian rapper told Rolling Stone of his latest project, which will feature collaborations with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and The Weeknd.
